2-1-1 Texas, a service of United Ways of Central Texas, is a bilingual, telephone-based information and referral service. Trained, knowledgeable staff members answer the phones, listen, assess what service(s) the caller needs, then provide information and referrals regarding the most appropriate place(s) in the community to get help. All information is free and confidential and is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Basic Needs Community Resource Directory lists services offering help with housing, food, transportation, clothing, and temporary financial assistance. Listings include organization name, address, phone numbers, a description of services provided, eligibility requirements, geographic area served and intake procedures.

Features of the directory include:

Detailed listings of over 1,000 resources for health, recreation, education and social services.

Crisis services; 24-hour programs; resources for homeless/low-income individuals and families; and more.
Over 200 support group listings.

A non-profit organization whose mission is to establish and operate efficiently a community-access computer network. Austin Groups for the Elderly (AGE) http://www.ageofaustin.org/ is a non-profit organization that mainly works on issues concerning vital aging.  We also work on providing a sense of community to all non-profit organizations.
Many organizations have to deal with unreasonable and increasing rents,
copier, fax, postage machine leases, small cramped rooms and a limited staff.   AGE
used to have those problems also until we purchased a building on 3710 Cedar
Street (right off 38th and Guadalupe).

We now offer office space to non-profits who are looking to spend more on
their actual mission and less on program costs.
